Pushya is widely held to be the most auspicious of all nakshatras. Ruled by Brihaspati, teacher of the gods, and symbolised by the cow's udder, it overflows with nourishment, wisdom and spiritual growth. Tradition links Pushya with devotion, care for others, steadiness, prosperity and a deeply nurturing, dharmic nature.
If a child is born under Pushya nakshatra, tradition suggests a name beginning with one of these syllables, chosen by the Moon's pada (quarter) at birth: Hu, He, Ho, Da — one syllable for each of the four padas.
