Meaning & mythology

Rohini is the Moon's most beloved nakshatra and is ruled by Prajapati, the creator. Its symbols of the cart and the flowering banyan evoke growth, fertility and material abundance. Often called the most charming of the nakshatras, tradition links Rohini with beauty, artistry, sensual richness, steadiness and the power to make things flourish.

Naming syllables (Namakaran)

If a child is born under Rohini nakshatra, tradition suggests a name beginning with one of these syllables, chosen by the Moon's pada (quarter) at birth: O, Va, Vi, Vu — one syllable for each of the four padas.

These are the classical syllables; regional traditions vary slightly. For ritual decisions, confirm with your family panchanga or purohit.
