Meaning & mythology

Shatabhisha means 'a hundred physicians' or 'a hundred stars'. Ruled by Varuna, keeper of cosmic law and the waters, it is the nakshatra of healing, mystery and the vast, veiled order of the universe. Tradition associates Shatabhisha with healing ability, independence, scientific and mystical curiosity, secrecy and a visionary, sometimes solitary, mind.

Naming syllables (Namakaran)

If a child is born under Shatabhisha nakshatra, tradition suggests a name beginning with one of these syllables, chosen by the Moon's pada (quarter) at birth: Go, Sa, Si, Su — one syllable for each of the four padas.

These are the classical syllables; regional traditions vary slightly. For ritual decisions, confirm with your family panchanga or purohit.
